Misc. Notes
Born into poverty, poorly educated and abandoned by his mother at an early age, it seems Glenn, Sr. never understood or realized his true potential to make his way in the world. He worked at farming as a kid with his father.

As a grown man he mainly worked as a coal miner. He owned his own mine at one time. At other times he worked for large mining companies. When the mines were shut down he raised his family off of his savings plus hunting, fishing and searching for wild plants to sell (ginseng and yellow root).

As a hunter he was as good as anyone. His ability to call the Eastern Wild Turkey was unequalled. Turkeys, other hunters and sometimes wild game would sneak in on him. One time he scared a hunter to no end, when he spoke to the hunter, who had stepped on Glenn's chest buried in the leaves, "I wish you would get off of my damn chest".

Glenn had lot's of health problems, some he never knew about as a child. Doctor's told him of his early problems from X-rays and other test in his later life.

Misc. Notes
Frances A. Hoopengarner married Glenn L. Watts, Sr. at a Young age and become the mother of six sons and two Daughters. Having a limited education, she made the most of educating and caring for the upbringing of her children.

It seems she was always caring for someone else. She and Glenn took in Lucy Ann (Kitzmiller) Watts during Lucy's later years. At the same time Frances was caring for Glenn.

Many times Glenn behaved like a child, wasn't so bad compared to Lucy. Lucy displayed her true self, being a selfish, hateful and mean spirited person. I (Glenn, Jr.) and the other children had always stated it was the Watts in us when we were stirring up trouble. We later found out the meanness came from the Kitzmiller's. 247
