Aunt Nan was my grandmother, Laura's, older sister. The fifth child of my great grandparents, Moses and Mary Mays. Aunt Nan was a cute little lady, and when she smiled her eyes would smile too. I remember visiting Aunt Nan with my mother and grandmother as a youngster.

One of my fondest memories growing up was a family gathering known as the "Cousin's Club" when all the Mays siblings and their children and grandchildren would meet in the Altoona area once a month for a covered dish dinner and family fellowship. The picture shown here, depicting Aunt Nan, Uncle Rube, and Grandmother Laura, was taken during one of those get togethers. What a great time we had!6706

Nancy Effie. Aunt Nan, I remember as a cute little lady and when she smiled her eyes would smile too. I remember going with my mother and Mom to visit her occasionally and seeing her at the “Cousin's Club”. She was married to Lloyd G. Hite. Her daughter Arletta, along with Aunt Hannah's daughter Ethelyn, investigated the Mays family history several years ago and reportedly confirmed our Indian ancestry as being that of the Shawnee tribe in Central PA. She did not share the written documentation with anyone in our end of the family and no one knows what might have become of the information. I'm going to attempt to locate some of their family members. I was unable to locate Aunt Nan's obituary at the library, but will try again another time.653
