Misc. Notes
A 24 year old Edward Patton is listed as living with a Chambers family and neighbors of his mother Susannah Patton in this record of the 1850 census.
954Following Edward’s marriage to Esther they located in Curwensville, Clearfield, PA. Source incorrectly indicates Edward “died in 1908”
939His wife Esther was just 27 years old when she died [with her youngest child Mary just ten months old]. Edward, who was only 34 years old himself, never remarried and raised all his young children as a single father.
49Following the death of his wife Edward hired a nanny to care for his children and also had household servants.
955Mary E Mason, the sister of Esther Ann, is likely to be the seventeen year old living in the Edward Patton household in Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania in 1860. So it would appear to me that after Esther's death, a younger sister came to help her family with the four motherless children. [General source's data is most likely from Census records.]
956Edward always wore pin-striped pants, tails and an opera hat.

ObituaryFrom the DuBois Evening Express of Friday last we take the following notice of the death of Edward B. Patton, father of our townsman W. F. Patton:
Word was received at this place last night announcing the death of Edward B. Patton, of Curwensville. For the past few years Mr. Patton had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. W. A. Murr, and his death occurred at her home.
At the time of his death the deceased was 81 years of age. He was a brother of the late General John Patton. Mrs. Catherine Dowler, of Burnside, is a sister of the deceased and is the last of the first generation of Pattons who came to Clearfield county.
Mr. Patton is survived by four living children, the wife having preceded him to the grave 45 years ago. The sons are William F. Patton, of Brookville and John H. Patton, of the state of Iowa. The two daughters are Mrs. Mary Lyons, of Indiana county, and Mrs. Murr, of Curwensville.
