William and Eliza's family were residents of Boggs Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania in 1850.
Additionally, William, the innkeeper and wife, Eliza Mason with several children younger than 10, are living in Curwensville in 1860 as is a 25 year old Archy Mason, presumably a nickname for Archibald, the son of William and Eliza.

The Fleming Hotel, formerly the Good Intent, Curwensville, has been taken by Mr. Wm. A. Mason, who announces in an advertisement which will be found in another coulumn of this paper, that he has refitted and refurnished it, and is now prepared to accomodate guests in the best manner.
