In the 1900 Pennsylvania Census there is a Winfield Ritchey, grandson living with the family Born October 1886.

A Civil War draft for Valentine was found among his daughter-in-law* Hannah’s papers after her death in October 1943. Dated August 26, 1863 when Valentine lived in Cumberland Valley Township [Bedford County, PA] it was signed by the Provost Marshall of the 16th District of Pennsylvania. Valentine was summoned to service on September 23, 1863. The summons was reported to be in the possession of Elmer [Byron] Lines [1911-1988 his great grandson].

1094*The newspaper source above, regarding the finding of a Civil War draft, incorrectly identifies Hannah as Valentine’s wife. This draft summons could be the document that I once had, but was lost, during my move from Springville, UT to Orem, UT in the spring of 1976.

In the 1880 U.S. Federal Census
Volentine (age 50) appears with Wife “Louisa” (age 48) and their three children Emma (age 18), Emanuel (age 15) and Nicholas (age 11).
243The spelling of both names for Valentine and Louise in the 1880 census are incorrect.
