Misc. Notes
Uncle Pete was my grandmother, Laura's, brother and the eldest of eight siblings born to my great grandparents, Moses and Mary Mays. Not much is known about Uncle Pete other than the family story that he once hand-carried a stove from Coalport to Altoona, Pa. It is stated in various records that he was married, however, the name of his wife is not mentioned. It is my understanding that he was somewhat of a loner and preferred to live a hermit-like existence. My grandmother, Laura, provided the information recorded on his death certificate.

It appears that my widowed great grandmother, Mary, may have lived with him for a short period of time, as her name appears on the 1910 census as being part of his household.4466

Peter Francis. Uncle Pete, Mom's oldest brother, apparently was kind of a loner and preferred living pretty much like a hermit. There are not too many stories about Uncle Pete, other than he once carried a stove from Coalport to Altoona. The 1910 census lists his name and his mother, Mary A., as being in the same household. It also lists him as being married, but there is no wife's name on the census. He died in 1920 of mitral valvular heart disease according to his death certificate, which was signed by our grandmother, Laura.653
