Sophronia Mercer Passmore's Headstone

According to Donna Marie Passmore Shimel, her father James Passmore (Sophronia's son), said he was going to put a headstone on his mother's grave before he died. Donna, who was in high school at the time, said he fulfilled his promise and had a proper stone put on Sophronia's grave in Watts Cemetery, Greenwood, Clearfield, Pa. some 40 odd years after her death. Sophronia was a young girl when she died shortly after the birth of James.
James later went to live with his grandmother, Belle Passmore, as his father, Purdy had no one to care for the child. James stayed with his grandmother and his aunts and uncles on the homestead. Many of his aunts and uncles were in the same age range as he was, so he grew up with them like they were his brothers and sisters.
Jim was a hard working, good hearted man who took good care of his family and his children. He was well liked by everyone who came into contact with him.
