Purdie Passmore Obituary
27 July 1936 , Kinport, Pa.
A complication of ailments Monday caused the death of Purdie Passmore, 54, at his home at Kinport near here. The deceased was employed as a blacksmith by the Cherry Tree Coal Company at Emeigh.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Erma Passmore (nee Stiffler), and the following children: James passmore of Bells Landing, Mrs. Amanda Laney of Kinport, Mrs Gertrude Laney of Starford, and Lawrence Paul, and Guy Passmore at home.
The funeral cortege left that residence at one o'clock, Wednesday afternoon for Uniontown, where services were held in the Union Church there, with burial in the church cemetery with McMillan, Kilen and Long, Barnesboro Morticians in charge.

Sophronia Mercer Passmore's Headstone

According to Donna Marie Passmore Shimel, her father James Passmore (Sophronia's son), said he was going to put a headstone on his mother's grave before he died. Donna, who was in high school at the time, said he fulfilled his promise and had a proper stone put on Sophronia's grave in Watts Cemetery, Greenwood, Clearfield, Pa. some 40 odd years after her death. Sophronia was a young girl when she died shortly after the birth of James.
