The Abell Gleason Home
The Abell-Gleason home located in the historic downtown district of Charlottesville purchased by J. Emmett Gleason and his wife Helen in 1946. The two-story brick building built in about 1859 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Gleasons were said to be “arguably the most significant owners” of the historic home, making changes that brought it into the modern era adding electricity and plumbing. They lived in the home until they sold it in 1974
