On Saturday, November 17, 2001, age 87, of Zelienople, PA, formerly of Apollo and Verona. Husband of the late Rebecca Kinkead Smeal and Edith Kommell Smeal; beloved father of Bruce C. Smeal of Tipp City, OH; also two granddaughters and two great grandchildren.
Ordained September 23, 1938, Rev. Smeal served a number of Lutheran parishes throughout his 63 years as an ordained minister. He served Trinity Lutheran Church in Verona prior to his retirement. Upon his retirement, Rev. Smeal was interim pastor to St. John's Lutheran Church, Natrona, PA and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tarentum.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001 in the chapel of Parkview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. A Memorial Service will be held 3:30 pm Sunday, November 25 at Seaman Memorial Chapel of Passavant Health Center, in Zelienople, with the Rev. Donald J. McCoid, D.D., Bishop of the Southwestern PA Synod-ELCA, and Rev. Dr. David Baker, pastor of Seaman Memorial Chapel, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Passavant Retirement Center, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E.
