MAHAFFEY -- Mrs. Sarah E. Dickey, 91, widow of James L. Dickey and a 71-year resident of Greenwood Township, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Johnston, at Curry Run yesterday at 1:05 p.m. following a long illness.

Born in Bell Township April 6, 1873, she was a daughter of the late Canada and Elizabeth (Buckley) Rupert. She married Mr. Dickey in 1892. They lived on a farm in Greenwood Township until his death in 1950.

Mrs. Dickey is survived by six sons and a daughter: Clyde F., Mahaffey; Harvey W., Portage; Mirl and Mrs. William (Pink) Johnston, Curry Run; James P., Bells Landing; Ted R., Bloomsburg; and Bruce, Mahaffey R.D. 2. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild.

Two daughters and a son preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the T.R. McCracken Funeral Home here with the Rev. Cora Ardary officiating. Interment will be in the Mahaffey Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight, tomorrow from 4 to 10 p.m. and until time of services Wednesday.6944

BELLS LANDING -- James L. Dickey, retired farmer and lumberman, died at his home in Greenwood Township near here Sunday morning at 2 o'clock. He was 82.

Born March 10, 1868 in Bell Township, he was the son of George W. and Frances Newcomer Dickey. He was married January 8, 1892 to Sarah Edith Ruppert [sic = Rupert].

Mr. Dickey is survived by his wife and the following children, Clyde F., Mahaffey; Harvey W., Portage; Joseph R., Bells Landing; Mirl B., James P. and Mrs. Margaret Pink Johnston, Curry Run; Teddy R., Bloomsburg and Bruce A., at home. Two daughters, Frances E., and Velma E., preceded him in death.

Survivors also include 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and these brothers: William and Harvey of Grampian and Blaine of Bells Landing.

Brief funeral services will be held from his late home Tuesday at 2 p.m., followed by services in the Bells Landing Baptist Church at 2:30 with Rev. Cory Ardary officiating. Interment will be in the Mahaffey Cemetery. Friends may call at the home until time of services.6942
