William Bell, descendent of Arthur Bell, purchased lands on the south side of the Susquehanna River and is known today as Nolen's Bottom. Arthur Bell was one of the first settlers in Clearfield County.

Williams acquisition took place on Feb. 27, 1846. After clearing the fields he followed farming for a trade, William purchased an additional 100 acres of land from Joseph and John McCracken for $1,800 on May 9, 1851.

Mr. Bell continued in the farming trade and established a successful and substantial farm. William and his wife Catherine both were interred in the Camp Corbly Cemetery and later removed to the Mahaffey Cemetery.

A Catherine Bell b. 2/28/15 d. 23.29/1849, with Next of Kin Mervil Bell, is listed among those buried at the Bower Cemetery. It was one of two Curry Run, Pennsylvania area cemeteries in which bodies were reinterred due to the construction of the Curwensville Dam in the 1960s. The bodies of the deceased could be interred at Mahaffey, Friends, Lumber City, or Watts Cemeteries at no expense to family members. A total of 96 graves were removed from the cemetery.6809
