Obituary

Cora A. Gunning Erickson, 84, a longtime resident of Idaho Falls, passed away October 17, 2000, in San Diego, California, where she had made her home for the last 10 years.

Cora was born February 20, 1916, in Rexburg, Idaho, the second daughter of LeRoy and Matilda Kingto?? Anderson. She spent her childhood in St. Anthony, where she graduated from high school, after which she attended Ricks College.

In November 1936, she was married to Delmer C. Gunning and they resided in St. Anthony until he entered the Marines in World War II. Following the war, the family remained in California for a few years, returning to Idaho Falls in 1950. She worked many years at the AEC office in Idaho Falls and was supervisor of the teletype division.

Her husband passed away in 1962, and two years later she married Marvin Bruce Erickson. Shortly after the marriage, they moved to Sacramento, where he died in 1988. In 1990 she moved to San Diego to be nearer part of her family.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lyn and Carolyn Gunning of Colorado Springs, Colo., and daughter-in-law, Sandra Gunning of San Diego, Calif. She also is survived by the following grandchildren: Kelly (and Norma) Gunning, Kevin (and Barbara) Gunning of San Diego, Stephanie (and Steven) Bessette of New Orleans, and Amy Gunning of Colorado Springs. There are great-grandchildren: Kyle, Christina and Caitlin Gunning, all of San Diego. She included as her "adopted" grandchildren, Sandra (and Kevin) McNally and their son, Jake Smith. She was preceded in death by her older son, Lee Gunning, and two sisters.
