Nellie Clyde’s home sat directly across Curry Run road from George W and Jane Campbell’s home on Lot 35 in what was once known as Lewisville (now Curry Run) PA. The Campbells were among the early settlers in that area and George was it’s first appointed postmaster.5846

The Curry Run annual picnic, “to bring the community together for a day of good fellowship, good food, and reminiscing” started in Sep of 1987 with 55 people attending. The picnic was to be held the Sunday following Labor Day each year. At the first annual picnic Zada Lines was the eldest resident attending at the age of 93. It must be noted that she had 5 adult children also attending who were: Esther Derrick, Josephine Saxe, Nellie Clyde, Louise Heaps, and Bill Lines. Zada also had grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the picnic.3902

Across the road from the Zada Lines property [lot number 34 in Curry Run, PA] is a house owned by Nellie Clyde, a daughter of Zada. The house was built in 1884 by George Washington Hess who was Nellie Clyde’s grandfather. This house sits on lot 21 in the town plat.3786
