Dave was in and out of the picture alot, he always was there [at his mother and Elmer’s house], he always visited and stayed with us various times when he was a newlywed, and had his first couple of babies. Dave went thru a divorce in the mid 90's and moved from Clearfield to Oil City and lived with mom, or right beside her for several years. During those years, after his divorce which he was completely heartbroken over, he saw a very bad side of mom that he did not see before. She was extremely mean and manipulating with him. Ordie has recently told me that he also, lived with her during those years, and saw a very hateful manipulating side of her that he was not aware of before. The opinions of her they both had for her prior to that adversely changed. She loved to "play" her children against one another, which Cindy and I saw as children but no one else seemed to see. Dave was a very unhealthy person all his life, he has always been deaf in one ear, and has about 3% hearing to his other ear, which limited his abilities along with an 8th grade education, to find anything more than a miniman paying job. He was a very tender hearted and caring person, and mom bullied him alot when he went through his divorce.
