John belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in Georgia beginning on March 28, 1887.

John Moses worked in his father's Ogden shop, where he was taught basic engineering and manufacturing principles, and encouraged to experiment with new concepts. He developed his first rifle, a single-shot falling-block design, then founded his own manufacturing operation and began to produce this firearm.

Perhaps the single most infamous Browning-designed firearm was a FN Model 1910 handgun. In 1914, it was used to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie. This event arguably sparked World War One.

While working on a self-loading pistol design Browing died of heart failure in the office of his son Val A. Browning.
____________

John Browning is shown in the general source as a 9th Cousin 1 times removed to Joseph Passmore (1738-1767), through Joseph’s second great-grandfather Thomas Passmore (1614-1652). However it shows Thomas’ father as John Passmore (1743-1791), who’s mother was Margaret Strode (1723-1813) which is impossible due to dates in which John Passmore lived.3
