The Irvin Planning Mill produced surfaced lumber on the mid-1880s. It was located on the river near Irvin Hill. It was owned by Col. John irvin, who served in the Pennsylvania Bucktails during the Civil War, and his brothers, Jared and James. (Courtsey Curwensville-Pike Township Historical Society.)
