The following excerpts are from the will of Hugh Jordan, Clearfield County Will Book A, page 76 providing the link between Elizabeth, daughter of James and Mary (Jordan) McCracken to Hugh Jordan of Cecil County Maryland.

Item I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Elizabeth J. McCracken daughter of James McCracken the sum of seventy five dollars payable at the decease of my wife Ann Jordan it being a compensation for services rendered over and above what she has already received. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Eighteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven. Signed --- Hugh Jordan

On the 1880 census Elizabeth is listed in the household of her son, John Bumgardner as Betsy J. age 63 and a sister of John by the name of Nora E. age 19. It is unclear if Nora E. and Mina Almira are the same person, their age would indicate that this is the same child or a twin.

Leonard and his family are on the 1850 census and listed as Leonard age 37, Elizabeth 31, Helen 11, Barbara E. 8, Mary J. 7, Hugh 5, John D. 3, Margaret A. 1 and Jenny Bumgardner age 73.

In 1860 they are in Shawsville, Goshen Township. On this census Helen the oldest daughter is not listed and the following children were added, Daniel born 1851 and Robert 1855. By 1870 all the children have left home except Hugh J. age 25, John D. age 22 and Daniel F. age 19. Another child is added Mina Almira age 9 and the father, Leonard, is no longer listed making his death between 1861 and 1870.1296
