By conversation with Dorothy (Sandoe) Snair in October 2002, she recalled the family story on Ethel Johnson's husband. He was reportedly a foundling left at the home of a Reverend (minister or preacher) by the surname of Jester and that is what surname he used. She could not recall his given name.

Ethel and her husband had at least six children including a daughter named Jane, a daughter named Katie and a son named Thurman.
