Was notified of George Burton Peters' death on September 26, 2002, by Barbara Peters Jackson, his niece. She advised that Jeanne Lynch Ponton (daughter of Emma Peters Lynch) called to tell her that she had received a call from George's granddaughter who is living in Texas that George was not doing well. Jeanne told Barbara that she visited George every Sunday and the last Sunday she visited before the granddaugther's phone call, George looked fine. She immediately went over to the home and was directed to the hospital. She went to the hospital and spoke with George's children, Phoebe and David. She invited them to stay with her but they refused. She was not able to speak to George as he was comatose. A few days later she read his brief obituary in the paper and that he had been cremated. She called the hotel where Phoebe and David were staying and was told the hotel had no record of them ever staying there. Jeanne said that no one knows how to get in contact with any of George's descendants.

PETERS, George Burton, 91, passed away September 23, 2002, in Dade City. He is survived by his son, David of Ga.; two daughters, Phoebe Waring of Pa. and Dianna Bailey of Va.; sister, Pansy Duke of Pa.; ninegrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. National Cremation Society, Tampa.
