An Apgar Bloom was listed among those representing the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania at the first meeting of the Noble Lodge No. 480, F. & A.M [Free and Accepted Masons]. The lodge was part of the district of which Clearfield County was a part. The first meeting held at New Washington, PA, October 27, 1870, Apgar is listed as one of the two Grand Stewards.
The Lodge was moved to Curwensville, Pa. in 1881. The Lodge room was the east half of the third floor of the Patton Building, where it continued until 1924. Since that time, the Lodge home has been in the present building [1949], formerly the residence of Colonel John Irvin and brothers and now owned by the Lodge. The former Irvin residence given to the Masonic Lodge by Hugh M. Irvin, son of Colonel E. A. Irvin.
