NameGeorge ELLINGER 94
Birth Date1778|1780
Misc. Notes
Source indicates “It’s thought that Alleman Ellinger is the son of George Ellinger ... and Barbara (possibly Schaeffer)”

All of the children of George Ellinger and his wife Barbara were [living] in the Clearfield Co, PA (Brady Township area) and some are buried there.

My notes on this George are:

1850  Brady Twp, Clearfield PA
1840 Brady Twp
1830 Brady Twp

There is another George Ellinger in the 1790 census of Dauphin Co, PA that I think might be related to Georges father, also named George b. abt 1770's?

There is a court record for him as follows:

Beford County Orphans Court
"Ellinger John 23 Apr. 1792 George Woods, Hugh Barclay, James Martin, John Hopkins, Edquires, Justices.

Came into court George Ellinger, minor child of John Ellinger, deceased, above 14 years of age and chose George Funk and Conrod Hite as his joint guardian."

It's thought that his father was probably killed by Indians during an engagement in 1791.

George Funk was a freeholder of the Bedford Tsp and married to Mary Ewalt.

Conrod Hite was also an appointed guardian of the court for George Ellinger.

No further information can be found on John Ellinger at this time (July 2007).

This is not the same George and John Ellinger however. Through process of my elimination and tracing census records, it is my belief that the parents of this George Ellinger could have been CASPER ELLINGER AND CATHERINE HUBER.

I also have the note of his wife being Barbara Schaeffer (that is George's wife)
But I don't have enough proof to prove that is the case.

It seems to be that if George is in fact the father, then that would add in a couple
more generations that I gleened from Ancestry.com that we could go back on.

That would be:

Casper Ellinger (unproven), 1762-1807 married Catherine HUBER daughter of Andreas Huber and Gertraud SCHWARTZ. (Gertrude is the daughter of Peter Schwartz 1677-1737 of Germany and Susanna BERNHARDT 1683-abt1740 from Germany, and died in PA. Then going back to Casper.

Casper Ellinger (unproven) is possibly the son of Johann George ELLINGER b. 1742 in the German Settlement in Lancaster, PA and he married Maria Justina LIETNER

Another thing I found is that the spelling could have been altered way back there. There are references made to ELENDER AND ALLINGER.

It's unclear where the family generated from further back for me other than German Immigrants.
