Misc. Notes
Robert was killed on a logging raft between April and May 1859 as a group of men floated down the Susquehanna from Curwensville to Harrisburg, PA. The water was swift and the raft smashed into a railroad foundation in the river at Harrisburg.
[His son Samuel was born in August of that year.]

A letter from James M. Leonard, of Clearfield county, received by Wm. P. I. Painter, Esq., states that from the description of the body found floating in the river at this place several weeks since, and interred in the Muncy Cemetery, there is no doubt that it was the body of a man named (paper is folded where the name is printed), drowned at the Rolling Stone, on the 12th of December last. He left a wife and one child. - Muncy Luminary.

If this is the same Henry Bickel I have found records of at the Clearfield Co., PA courthouse, Henry was married when he and Mary met. I believe Henry and his wife divorced and Henry and Mary married. I have been unable to find marriage record for them in Clearfield Co. PA.
