“Ray” Jr. was raised by his paternal grandmother Mary Jane Patton Lines.235

Ray Jr. enlisted as a young man in the U.S. Army. He received a field promotion and was promoted to officer rank and enjoyed a successful thirty year career, until he retired as a Colonel in 1965. Following his career Ray Jr. did consulting work for the Pentagon.3

Raymond E. Lines Jr.,
New Kensington

Raymond E. Lines Jr., 78 of 105 Woodstone Lane, New Kensington, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday (March 30, 1995) in his home.

Born Aug. 12, 1916, in Pittsburgh, he lived in New Kensington since 1989.

He was a Colonel in the Army for 30 years before retiring in 1965, then did consulting work for the Pentagon.

Survivors include his wife, Rena Chiesa Lines; a stepson, Jack Chiesa of Natron Heights, Harrison; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Richard (Joyce Chiesa) Mialki of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Mrs. Robert (Marene Chiesa) Bowman of Boca Raton, Fla,; eight stepgrandchildren; four step-great-granchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Connie) Susek of New Kensington.

Mr. Lines was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Heathcote Lines; and his parents, Raymond E. and Isa Marie Herella Lines Sr.

Services and burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army, Fifth and 11th streets, New Kensington, Pa. 15068. Arrangements are being handled by the Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

Ray was “a very nice guy” who admired and thought a lot of his first cousin Eli Enlo Lines (1922-2009) because of his progress and success in life despite his difficult years growing up. Ray “thought there was nobody like Eli.”35
