____________
Alice Bloom's first name was Nancy although I don't think she ever used the name.
2208Note: Many references to Nancy in family trees etc. use the name Alioce Bloom.

[More on Nancy Alice Bloom, written by her granddaughter Ruth Kline (b. 1932)]
Unfortunately I have no memories of any direct relationship with her. I regret that, as I've come to believe that I resemble her, not so much in appearance, but in personality (for lack of a better word). For reasons unknown to me (and never discussed in the family) my mother did not like Alice. Therefore she was not included in family discussions.... She had a daughter (Eva) out-of-wedlock before she married Alonzo Kline. This of course was scandalous in my Puritan mother's eyes, and that probably contributed to the strained relationship between her and Alice?? (Who knows?)

Misc. Notes
After Alice's [Nancy Alice Bloom] husband Alonzo died (1920), the man who had fathered Eva (Elam Bauman) tracked her [Alice] down after his wife had died. I remember my sister saying that she recalled Elam coming to our house in Windber and asking where Alice lived. She lived only a few blocks away.
Harvey [Alice’s son with Alonzo] was home at the time, and he was very sad because his father had done such a noble job of being a good husband and father to the family, and I think he felt a sense of disloyalty in telling Elam her address.

Elam and Alice were married only after her husband and his wife had passed away, which of course was in their later years. "I don't know why he and Alice did not marry" [refers to when they were young and she became pregnant with their child out-of-wedlock]. My sisters, who were both older than I, never knew either and we talked about it quite often.
