Obituary

CHARLES BARD PROMINENT FARMER DIED

The community was shocked on last Friday, September 3rd to learn of the death of Mr. Charles Bard, prominent Todd Township farmer and highly respected citizen of Knobsville, PA. Mr. Bard passed peacefully away at the Hagerstown, MD. hospital following careful medical attention in an illness which lasted only a short while. The deceased what the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Truax Bard and was born at Pleasant Ridge, this county on November 5, 1868, being aged at the time of death 74 years, nine months and 28 days. For many years Mr. Bard made his home in Licking Creek Township where he was engaged in farming. With his wife and family a number of years ago he moved to Knobsville where they maintained one of the most productive and nicest farms in the county.

Mr. Bard was devoted to his family and work. He enjoyed a host of friends throughout the county who will miss his presence. He was a life long member of the Sidling Hill Christian Church. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Lydia Mellott Bard. and these children: Earl of Baden; George of Knobsville; Lessie, wife of Blair Garland of Needmore; Cleo, wife of Duffey Mellott of Needmore; and Ruby, wife of Ralph Kerlin of Knobsville.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: George A. Bard, Henry and Sherman Bard, all of Knobsville; Ross of St. Thomas; Newton of McConnellsburg; John of Annie Kelso of Knobsville, and Mrs. Frank Spade of Sipes Mill.

Impressive funeral services were held at the Bard home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Lewis Duvall officiating, assisted by Rev. Everett Woodcock.

Interment was made in Union Cemetery. 9/9/1943 Fulton County Democrat.2911
