Mary E. Compton
KERRVILLE
Mary E. Compton, 85, a resident of Kerrville since 1978, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006, in a local care center. She was born August 16, 1920, in Piedmont, WV, to Joseph Granville Hoopengardner and Agnes Beard Hoopengardner.
Mary had worked for the Akron Police Department, Akron, OH, as a secretary. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Kerrville and was a member of the Avion Travelcade Club for many years. She volunteered for Heart of the Hills Thrift Store for many years.
She is survived by grandchildren, Jeanette Cox of Fairlawn, OH, Edward Nichols of Akron, OH, Carl A. Nichols of Akron, OH, and Julie Crookston of Sun River, MT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Compton, in 1984 and step-daughter, Helen Marie Nichols.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Frankie Enloe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 625 Washington, Kerrville, TX 78028.
