Seaman David Hoopengardner, who is one of the surviviors of the San Diego, is visiting [August 1918] with relatives in Ossian and at Lake George until he is stationed on another ship.
2799Note in a June 1919 article from the same newspaper David is home on furlough again visiting friends and his parents at Lake George. A July article mentions he had returned to New York, had enlisted for four years with eighteen months remaining to serve.
