Ronald J. Hoopengardner
HANCOCK - Ronald John Hoopengardner, 57, of High Germany Road, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born July 25, 1946, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Guy A. and E. Jane Burns Hoopengardner.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra E. Stahle Hoopengardner.
He was a 1964 graduate of Hancock High School and a 1968 graduate of Frostburg State University.
He was the owner and operator of the Sideling Hill Amoco Station for the past 15 years. He was a lifelong farmer and former employee of the Washington County Board of Education as a teacher and bus driver.
He was a member of the Buck Valley Christian Church, where he served as an elder.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Hoopengardner; four daughters, Justine Murray, and husband, Douglas, Jenna Hoopengardner, Jolene Stotler, and husband, Solomon, and Jada Hoopengardner, all of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two stepsons, Jerry L. Souders Jr. and wife Misty and Timothy L. Souders, and wife Landy, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one brother, Alton Hoopengardner of Warfordsburg; four sisters, Linda Bernstein of Easton, Md., Doris Hoopengardner of Hagerstown, Md., Donna Rowland of Sharpsburg, Md. and Terry Shade of Warfordsburg, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Luther Murray, Marita Murray, Gabriel Stotler and Holden Stotler, all of Warfordsburg, Ashlea McKenzie, Jayme Souders and Colton Souders, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Clint Bahrenburg and the Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267; or to Wesleyan Chapel Church, 612 Harrison Ave., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
