Marie E. Hoopengardner, 85

HANCOCK - Marie E. Hoopengardner, 85 of Sensel Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Jan. 12, 1920 in Rockville, Md, she was the daughter of the late David and Virgie M. Vantz Rector. She retired from the former London Fog Inc. in Hancock. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hancock.

She is survived by her husband, W. Emory Hoopengardner, whom she married Jan. 23, 1937; one daughter, Wanda L. Snow of Hancock; two sons, robert E. Hoopengardner Sr of Hancock and Rocky S Hoopengardner of Gaithersburg, Md; one sister Medeline Clark of Cumberland, Md.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph L. Hoopengrdner, one sister, Wand House; and one brother, William Rector.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hancock. The Rev. Jospeh Cosgrove will be celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family requests the omission of flowers. memorial donations may be made to Hancock Fire Co., 2 Fulton St., Hancock, MD 21750; or Hancock Rescue Squad Inc., 57 E. Main St., Hancock, MD 21750.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
