The Friends Museum shows John married Catherine Friend, Dau of Nicholas & Barbary Friend. Nicholas's will of 1819 list Catherine and John Hoopingardner. The will spells Catherine with a "K' as well as the "C".
Census 1790 Pa.. List a John Hooingerner. 1 Male over 16; 1 Male under 16: 1 female. This is most likely John and Catherine (Friend) Hoopengardner.
Census 1800, Peters Township, Washington Co., Pa.. List a John Hoopengardner, Farmer. Males, 3 under 10; 2 10-15; 1 45+. Females, 1 under 10; 1 26-44. This also appears to be John and Catherine. May be one child is tied to the wrong parents.
John's eight children are listed in his will.
