Pennsylvania native born in 1868. Stanford graduate and high school math and science teacher; taught at Fortuna High School from 1910-1913. Had two sons with her husband Irving Passmore, also a teacher. According to Fortuna cemetery records, she was divorced, but no further information on this has thus far been found. Maud Passmore committed suicide by hanging, while staying at her sister's house in Eureka in March 1915, at around age 47.
GRASS VALLEY, April 5--Word was received here yesterday of the death at Eureka by suicide of Mrs. Maude Passmore, teacher of sciences in the local high school. By reason of illness, Mrs. Passmore asked for leave of absence several days ago and went to Eureka to visit her sister. The recent marriage of Mrs. Passmore's former husband is believed to have prompted the act.
