Mrs Marlie Ellinger
Died Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Alice Rothrock Ellinger of Clearfield, wife of Marlie Ellinger, died in the Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, June 16. The daughter of Curtin and Sarah Rothrock, the deceased was born in Centre Hill on January 26, 1900, making her age 31 years, four months and 29 days at the time of her death.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband and the following brothers and sisters. Mrs. Lester Ellinger, Mrs. Lynn Tiedgen, Mrs. George Shearer, and Mrs. Carl Philips, all of Clearfield; Mrs. Edward Green and John Keenan of Philadelphia; Edward of Bigler; Howard, O. L., Roy, and Boyd, all at home. Two step-sons, William and John also survive.
Before coming to Clearfiled anumber of years ago, where she made a host of friends, who have learned to love her, Mrs. Ellinger spent most of her life in Center Hill, where she was a prominent and faithful member of the M.E. Church.
Funeral services will be held from the home of her sister, Mrs. Lester Ellinger, 489 Eighth street, on Friday morning June 19, at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. J. S. Colledge in charge. Interment in Centre Hill.

His name apparently has been listed by census takers possibly in 1900 or 1910 as “Marel.” I believe this was an error on the part of the census taker as he has never heard, or seen his name in print, as anything but “Marlie.”.93

Marlie worked for the Harbison-Walker Refractories fire brick plant near his home in Curwensville, PA, retiring from the company in 1963. I knew Marlie as a young boy and into my teens. He was always busy and because of my grandmother’s health took care of the housework and cooking. He was always making coffee and preparing meals on his wood-fueled stove. When my mother and I would visit he was always anxious to serve coffee and to fix up something to eat, whether we were hungry or not. He was a kind man and was among the most decent men I've ever known and a good husband to my grandmother, Nora Agnes Wertz.97
