“Jasper Strong, age 44 years, speaks good English and manages his affairs mostly without help from this office. He is a good worker and fairly successful in his operations.

“Attomany Howard, wife, age 38 years, is a good housekeeper. Her children and herself are always clean, and her house is always neat and in order. At this time there are three children: James Strong, son, age 16 years; Howard Strong, son, age 11; and Simon Strong, son, age 14 years. Simon is attending public school near his home. Simon (Sr.) is a full-blood Indian.

“This family lives on the father’s allotment near Toppenish. The house is a five-room frame house in good condition, but in need of paint.

“These people are successful farmers. Jasper is industrious and a good manager. He has some 60 acres in alfalfa and about the same amount in grain. In addition to farming his own land he leases land through the Agency, and is prompt in paying his rent. Thay have hay rakes, hay stackers, mowers, plows, wagons, disc, and other necessary farm equipment which is protected from the weather by good sheds. They have two good teams of horses and several saddle horses of not much value. They have three dozen chickens and a few cows.”402
